February: Hail Satan!

This may have to become a regular potluck theme, because there were too many movies to choose from!

2/6: Daughters of Satan (1972) — Tom Selleck and his mustache discover a four-hundred-year-old painting of a woman who looks just like his wife. Is she actually a Satan-worshipping witch? (Answer: Sort of.)

2/13: Hellbound (1994) — The murder of a rabbi leads a Chicago cop (Chuck Norris) to the Holy Land, where he and his partner discover that Satan’s messenger, Prosatanos, has awakened and is planning to conquer the world. Just thinking about this movie makes me shiver with glee. Again, just to be clear: this is a movie about Chuck Norris fighting Satan in Israel.

2/20: Omen III (1981) — Satan’s son is all grown up in this second sequel to the 1976 horror hit. Now in his 30s, Damien Thorn (Sam Neill) is America’s newly minted ambassador to England and leader of the world’s largest multinational corporation. But his plans for world domination hit a snag when he spots an omen of his heavenly archrival’s second coming.

2/27: House of the Devil (2009) — A cash-strapped college student named Samantha takes a babysitting job during a full lunar eclipse and discovers that her employers, Tom (Tom Noonan) and Mary (Mary Woronov), are hiding an evil secret. Period piece set in the early 80s; director Ti West does an amazing job of capturing the essence of this genre and era, right down to the clamshell VHS box the film was released in.
